My official first attempt at HDR. I downloaded a trial version of Photomatix tonight to try my hand at HDR before I purchased the full version. Here are two versions of tone mapping I did on HDR composites of a night shot outside of my window on Broad Street after the Blizzard of 2010. I know night scenes are not typically recommended for HDR photography unless there is ample light sources, but I figured all of the street lights in close proximity would work. He are two versions, one with more shadow and color highlights and one with less highlights and more detail. I call it Light Crystals.

The Image

I must say, I have always enjoyed photography. Probably becuase I am not the best drawer or painter. It is a way to make a painting without ink or paint. You can express what you would paint on the canvas in the blink of an eye… or more so a snap of the shutter.
